Overview

  • What's up with the new Piper M600? Aren't we all confused when the M500 was just launched a year ago?

Is it worth it for the premium versus the Meridian and the Meridian M500. Here's a lead from the Piper Dealer's network's comparison chart.

Piper seems to have focused on addressing once and for all everything that the customer has been concerned about the Meridian, from performance to design to the latest and greatest in avionics. The re-design new airframe achieved the following goals:

    1. Increased payload
    2. Increased Range (at max payload)
    3. Increased Vmo speed
    4. The latest in General Aviation Integrated Glass cockpit with the latest EFIS backup systems
    5. A luxurious interior and new cockpit panel aimed on-par with all competitors in the market

Specific Performance improvements you barely notice in the brochure include:

    - Gross weight increase to 6,050lbs
    - 600hp PT6A-42A engine that gives a 20% increase in powerat only a 2GPH fuel burn increase at max cruise
    - Increased fuel capacity to 260gallons
    - Increased range at max cruise to 1300nm (640lbs payload), 1000nm (800lbs payload) with 45min NBAA IFR reserve
    - Cruise speed at 260kts but stall speed 61kts
    - Vmo increase to 250kts IAS...allowing the use of the entire flight envelope
    - Useful load of 2400lbs
    - Wider wheel base and aircraft stance for better handling and loading envelope

Most surprising and super comforting for the Asian market - 5 years airframe and avionics + 7 years engine warranty!!!
